20th China (Liangshan) Special Purpose Vehicle Exhibition Opens
September 20, 2024 — The 20th China (Liangshan) Special Purpose Vehicle Exhibition kicked off at the Liangshan International Convention and Exhibition Center in Shandong. Under the theme “Building Brands, Enhancing Quality, Pursuing Transformation — Twenty Years of Resilience, Twenty Years of Focused Vision,” the event is co-hosted by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers and the Shandong Provincial Automobile Industry Association, and organized by the Liangshan Automobile Industry Association.
Since its origins in 1982, the special purpose vehicle industry in Liangshan has received consistent policy support, innovative services, and a optimized business environment from the local government, accelerating its transformation and upgrading. After 42 years of development, Liangshan has grown into an integrated industrial cluster encompassing manufacturing, vehicle trading, logistics, and service support. With an annual production capacity of 350,000 special purpose vehicles, it now supplies one-third of China’s road transport specialty vehicle market and leads the nation in both trade and export volume of used commercial vehicles.
With its growing influence, the exhibition drew more leading companies and a wider range of exhibits, including Mercedes-Benz heavy trucks, Geely new energy vehicles, and components from global players such as Hyva of the Netherlands and Firestone of the United States.
Wang Shanpo, President of the Shandong Provincial Automobile Industry Association, added, “Liangshan’s special purpose vehicle industry has seen significant upgrades in technology, product quality, and management. It has become a nationally renowned industrial base with a complete ecosystem including used vehicle trading, R&D innovation, and product testing services. The export products have attracted numerous international buyers, many of whom visited on their own initiative — some arriving three days before the opening ceremony. This year’s event is the most internationalized in its two-decade history, with unprecedented foreign participation, generating substantial overseas orders and enhancing Liangshan’s reputation for high-end manufacturing in global markets.”

The event also includes conferences on international cooperation in the specialty vehicle industry, used vehicle export development, and trade matchmaking sessions, with more than 500 domestic and international companies taking part.
